Tell us about yourself.
I’ve been in the Oil and Gas Industry for 15 years. Prior to working for Ensign, I worked at another oil and gas company for 10 years and began feeling stagnant. I began a job search that would allow me to use the knowledge I’ve gained over the years and apply them to my career. Absolutely nothing happened when I wanted it. One day I received a call from a recruiting company that found me on LinkedIn. I had no knowledge of Ensign but was told that it was a startup company and needed someone to join their team to orchestrate and develop their documentation system. I was in total shock, but I stepped out on faith and everything else just flowed. I started at Ensign in June of 2019 as a Document Control Specialist where I was given the opportunity to not only showcase my skills, but I was allowed to do so and see the benefits. Covid came along and I was laid off from Ensign in October of 2020. Needless to say, I was hurt. Not only did I lose my job, but I thought I lost all of the new relationships and friendships I developed in such a short time. Ironically enough, I received another call 6 months later asking if I would be interested in coming back to Ensign, only this time I would be in a totally different role. A role that I feel I was called to do. I am now the Executive Assistant to the CEO, and I support the entire Executive team.
How is Ensign different from other places you have worked?
Working for Ensign has shown me that your work doesn’t go unnoticed or overlooked. Previous companies I worked for made me feel obligated to do my job and just that. No recognition, no kudos, no thank you. While you are obligated to do your job, here at Ensign I WANT to do my job. It doesn’t feel like its just a necessity, and I take pride and pleasure in my everyday duties.
What is your favorite thing about working at Ensign?
My favorite thing about working for Ensign is the culture. It isn’t draining nor is it unpleasant, but it fosters that genuine feeling of “you are important here, we need you”. Most companies make employees feel that they not needed nor valued. That is the total opposite here at Ensign.
What would you say to someone who was interested in working at Ensign?
If you are interested in working for Ensign, be prepared to join a group of amazing individuals that love what they do and want to see everyone grow. You won’t just be joining a company, but it’ll feel like you’ve been adopted into a hard-working FAMILY.
